IT’S NOT OFTEN THAT A COMPANY’S SUCCESS CAN BE DEFINED ALMOST ENTIRELY BY TWO WORDS. But for Mark Bell and Reno Gallery of Furniture, that success can perhaps be defined thusly: instant gratification.
Bell saw a world filled with furniture stores offering delivery at a steep price in six to eight weeks, and he knew he could do better. Enter Reno Gallery of Furniture’s free, same-day delivery policy. Now, two decades later, Bell has weathered the competition, besting a whopping 56 furniture stores that have come and gone in the local market since Bell’s company opened its doors.
He says the company has succeeded by applying this sales approach: “We try not to force the customer into anything, and we try to make sure they have a lot to choose from.” This goal has clearly helped the company to thrive. In addition to his Kietzke Lane location, he has a Reno Gallery of Furniture superstore on Moana Lane and two Mattress Worlds — one in Damonte Ranch, the other on Kietzke Lane. He boasts an unusually low churn rate of employees, owing to his no-commission policy and his treatment of his employees, whom he considers to be a valuable part of his family.
