Mixing it up

Mixing it up

Carson City Area Chamber of Commerce mixers are not just about business as is evident in this photo, shot at a recent event held at Little People’s Portraits in North Carson City. Mixers throughout Northern Nevada are a fun way to meet new business contacts each month.

Fun Raiser

Arizona Sen. John McCain was the guest at the home of Pat Lundvall and Jerry Bussell in early September for a fundraiser to support McCain’s possible presidential candidacy. About 150 Northern Nevadans attended.

Expo exceeded expectations

Northern Nevada Development Authority’s fourth annual Business & Tech Expo in Carson City set new records for exhibitors and attendees. Exhibitors included a variety of companies from advertising specialty firms, manufacturers, hotels, architects, insurance firms, tech suppliers and services. Organizers said 104 companies exhibited this year, a 25 percent increase from last year. The Expo saw a 33 percent increase in attendance from 2005. An NNDA spokesman said this year’s effort, a collaboration with chambers of commerce in seven counties, helped spark greater participation. Next year’s event is set for Sept. 28, 2007.

Reno legal

About 200 people attended a client appreciation mixer recently on the terrace of McDonald Carano Wilson’s office in the Museum Tower. Participants enjoyed the views, brews and relaxing conversation.

At the Gov

A record number of attendees enjoyed the recent Governor’s Industry Appreciation Awards Dinner at John Ascuaga’s Nugget. A who’s who of Northern Nevada business owners gathered to acknowledge existing companies for their substantial growth, contributing to the economic vitality of the region.
