{HELPFUL INFORMATION}
Useful Business Links

You’re starting a business and you’ve got questions. Or maybe you’ve been around a while, but still need a reliable resource for the everyday issues that crop up. To help you along the way, we’ve compiled a list of helpful websites for Nevada small business owners with questions.

SBA
Offering a general overview, the United States Small Business Administration’s website http://www.sba.gov is a great starting point for small current and potential small business owners. This site gets down to, well, business, with features like:
• Staring a news business http://www.sba.gov/starting_business/
• How to obtain financing http://www.sba.gov/financing/index.html
• Daily operations and small business management http://www.sba.gov/managing/index.html
• An exhaustive library of online SBA publications and reports http://www.sba.gov/lib/library.html

The SBA site also hosts regular online chats where business owners can gather to share concerns and, hopefully, success stories.

Nevada Small Business Development Center
The University of Nevada, Reno and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas have joined forces to provide “free and low-cost information, assistance, counseling and training” for businesses in Nevada. The main site is at http://www.nsbdc.com

Features include:
• Demographic analysis http://www.nsbdc.org/gis/
• Counseling services http://www.nsbdc.org/services/
• Online publications and resources http://www.nsbdc.org/resources/
• OSHA regulations explained http://www.unlv.edu/centers/nsbdcsas/

Nevada Department of Business and Industry
For information about worker’s comp, worker safety, bond programs and other legal issues, head over to the NDBI site at www.dbi.state.nv.us
The site also provides links to the Nevada Legislature’s online law library for further research.

General business sites and misc.
On the national level, don’t overlook CNN’s www.cnnmoney.com , which serves as the home page for Fortune, Money and Business 2.0 magazines. Resources include advice on hiring, updates on technology and tips for startups.

• Internal Revenue Service http://www.irs.gov
• OSHA http://www.osha.gov
• USA Today http://www.usatoday.com/money/ focuses on stock markets and portfolio management for investors, but also offers stories relevant to business owners
• Fast Company http://www.fastcompany.com is a forward-thinking publication that looks at the people and ideas shaping business in the 21st Century.
